Tiny Wins: The Ten Urgency Accelerators
A 10-Step Fool-Proof Plan for Defeating Problems – And Enemies
Unfortunately, apprehensive men often need to be convinced to act. Because their former actions led to failure, they have committed less and less over the years. They take a step, assuming they will fall. But what if men had a proven plan to move forward, which would enable them to see more tiny wins? What if men could pick a worthy enemy: a problem in the world, a competitor, or a bully?
The problem is today’s men are either:
-
-
- less experienced in acting & strategy because their default is inaction and passivity or
- told their proactive action should be done passively.
-
Our inactive futility sticks to us like cotton candy on a carnival stick: our results disappear easily in the tiniest rainstorm. So, we need to think through how to build a process of urgency so the acts we commit find their sticking-around power.
It’s helpful to think about this in terms of battling an enemy.
"Problems are just situations dealt out by enemies. And everyone needs a worthy enemy."

Ten Tiny Wins to Power Your Actions Forward
Harvard Business School’s Michael Porter was one of the finest simplifiers of strategy. He had a list of the eight accelerators for an average company to break out of the monotony holding it back. I want to offer my reformulations to you as The Ten Urgency Accelerators, or baby steps, to build a sense of urgency in attacking your worthy enemy, finding a way to get your work done, or building a community.
The Ten Urgency Accelerators
- Commit to reinforcing 1 of your strengths for 30 minutes per day
- Remove 3 barriers to your fighting, such as bad habits, backward-thinking friends, and worries about uncontrollable factors.
- Study and rank the enemy’s opposites and weaknesses.
- Build a circle of advisors.
- Create a strategic vision to attack where the enemy is weakest.
- Bring three others onto the team and communicate your vision.
- Celebrate your short-term wins.
- Be relentless.
- Don’t give up or claim success too early.
- There’s only 1 rule: No delays. Take a baby step each day.
