TOOL 1: Ten Urgency Accelerators
So what needs to be done next? What is the fastest way to experience the required changes? How can you muster the resources and urgency to battle a worthy enemy?
Harvard Business School’s Michael Porter was one of the finest simplifiers of strategy. He had a list of the eight accelerators for an average company to break out of the monotony holding it back. I want to offer my reformulations to you as The Ten Urgency Accelerators, or baby steps, to build a sense of urgency in attacking your worthy enemy.
-
- Commit to reinforcing 1 of your strengths for 30 minutes per day
- Remove 3 barriers to your fighting, such as bad habits, backward-thinking friends, and worries about uncontrollable factors.
- Study and rank the enemy’s opposites and weaknesses.
- Build a circle of advisors.
- Create a strategic vision to attack where the enemy is weakest.
- Bring three others onto the team and communicate your vision.
- Celebrate your short-term wins.
- Be relentless.
- Don’t give up or claim success too early.
- There’s only 1 rule: No delays. Take a baby step each day.
